"Contra mestre Fenix has a great style of teaching. He pushes the students enough to improve, but some how never makes it seem like we failed if we can't keep up."
- Rebecca R.
"Capoeira has been so good for our son's balance and flexibility. He loves his teachers and the other kids in his class, and there is a really good blend of skill-building exercises and games that help the students learn and enjoy what they are doing at the same time " - Shira B.
"Capoeira is THE most fun way to work out, and training with Fenix is sheer joy. The group is super friendly and supportive." - Victor S.
"My 5 year old daughter loves this group.
I have seen her grow and gain so much confidence through Capoeira" - Agi B.
I'm not in the best shape. Will I still be able to play Capoeira?

Yes, we can scale the class for any level. You will need to be prepared for a workout and to be sore for at least the first few weeks.

Fenix Capoeira is a community where each person is welcome and supported regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, physical ability, socioeconomic status, or life circumstance. The Fenix Capoeira  family aims to enrich each member’s well being in a positive atmosphere.

Can I observe a class?

Quiet observers are always welcome. It is best to contact us to let us know you are coming so we can let you know of the best class to watch.

What can I expect in my first beginner classes?

Be prepared to work out and sweat! Capoeira is a very physical activity. The normal class structure starts with warm-up, leads into training according to level, and ends with a roda. Please make extra time to stretch before and after your classes.

What should I wear/bring?

Please bring cash or check for $30 for your private and two weeks of classes. Please wear comfortable clothing (no shorts). We train in bare feet but you can also wear light shoes if you prefer. You may want to bring sports tape to prevent blisters on your feet. We suggest bringing a water bottle as the facilities do not have a drinking fountain.

When should I start?

You can start anytime. First you will need to get in touch by either filling out the form on this page or call (425) 691-6576, and we will schedule your semi-private intro session. We offer the intro session on Fridays at 7pm before the adult class.

For kids just starting out, it is best to just join in on a class. We can offer an intro for older kids, but find that the younger ones do better in a group setting.

If these times do not work for you, please let us know and we can make alternative arrangements.
